Croatia has become really well known to many as a holiday destination for the last decade, mostly for Dubrovnik and Istria region. Lately, things have changed a lot in favor to many other beautiful places on the coast and our islands that seem to attract people from all over the world.

It seems like Split has been finally revealed and recognized by its beauty and heritage, and even more, it’s tourist offer that can finally satisfy all client’s needs. Being just a harbor to Central Dalmatian islands for so many years, it never attracted tourists to stay longer than just two days. In time, Split managed to promote what was almost kept secret for years: wonderful beaches, amazing Hill park Marjan, great and luxurious boutique hotels, great clubbing and fine dining restaurants.

As a local, I will keep this article in my favorite part of Split and that’s Diocletian’s Palace. There are so many reasons for that: cultural, social and gastronomic.

World famous, UNESCO World Heritage Site, St Domnius Cathedral is the heart of the Palace and definitely the most amazing Venue for a church wedding. Besides its stunning architecture, this was actually the oldest Cathedral in the world! A definite MUST is a visit to the top of the Cathedral Tower; engagement photo session up there would be a dream!

The Ethnographic Museum of Split, in close proximity to Peristil, is unique due to the fact that the museum area lays at the 4th century location of the imperial chambers i.e. bedrooms of Emperor Diocletian, as the most intimate part of the Palace.

The oldest architectural parts are linked to the establishment of the palace at the beginning of the 4th century. A bit farther, the Museum area also houses one of the oldest churches of Split, the church of Saint Andrew de Fenestris from the 7th century, which is a potential venue for an intimate wedding ceremony.

Through the courtyard of the Božičević-Natalis family’s palace from the early Middle Ages, featuring a well with the family coat of arms, the visitors will reach Roman stairway leading to the roof of Vestibul which offers a magnificent view of the centre and outskirts of Split, as well as the sea and the nearby islands. The courtyard of this majestic palace is the perfect location for guest reception after a wedding ceremony.

St Dominic’s Church at the Eastern part of the Place is located at the Market, providing a true vibe of Mediterranean life and once entered complete silence and peace.

Museum of Town Split with its magnificent Courtyard provides an amazing ceremony for a Roman Courtyard wedding ceremony, while our recommended restaurants and taverns at the very heart of the city offer intimacy and fine dining fit for small reception. For big ones, a boat trip to the world famous Villa Dalmatia, Radisson Blu or Hotel Le Meridien Lav would fulfil your dream of Glamourous Weddings.

Besides the tourist sightseeing the Palace throughout all year, this is the only world known phenomenon of the monument inhabited with people. That’s why you will see “tiramole” laundry hanging above your heads while walking down the streets of the Palace.

This Mediterranean way of life provides color and constant interaction, warmth by the people who will greet you when they see you in your wedding gown and sincere happiness that you will feel on your Big Day. Big day at the Palace.
